Katie + Bryce’s Pittsburgh Engagement

Katie and Bryce met almost three years ago in – wait for it – COLOMBIA! They have such a cool “how we met” story. They’re both international teachers in Bogota, Colombia. She’s a native Pennsylvanian, and he’s from Canada, so they return home to Pittsburgh when they’re not inspiring young world changers.

As soon as I met them, it was obvious that they are meant for each other. Katie and Bryce have such an easy kind of love, perfect for capturing these sweet in-the-moment photos. We began their session at Pittsburgh’s historic Mellon Park and then moved to Station Square, where Bryce braved his somewhat-fear of heights and climbed the stairs to get up to The Highline! Judging by those smiles, it’s safe to say the climb was worth it.

They will tie the knot next February in Isla Mujeres, Mexico, and I could not be happier for these two lovebirds! I had an absolute blast capturing this special engagement stage for them. This is just the beginning of their grand adventure together. Congratulations on your engagement, Katie and Bryce!

Best Locations for Pittsburgh Engagement Photos

Mellon Park

Mellon Park is an incredible – and historic – location for engagement photos. Here’s why I love Mellon Park for engagement photos:

• This historic park features the largest mansion in Pittsburgh, which makes for a fun backdrop!
• The walled garden offers privacy and greenery.
• The vintage brick and limestone walls display unique gothic architecture.
• In season, you can experience the beautiful and fragrant rose garden – extra romantic!
• I love the black wrought iron entrance and historic fountain for photos.

The Highline

You’ll find the South Side’s newest elevated green space near Pittsburgh’s historic railway and the Monongahela River. The Highline is the perfect spot to watch the river roll by as the sun sets behind the city skyline. I was excited when I heard about the plans, and they certainly live up the hype! The Highline is great for engagement photos because:

• It features colorful and dynamic backdrops (like these color block murals).
• There’s lots of green space.
• It feels intimate and airy at the same time.
• You can catch unparalleled views of the city.
• You can turn your session into a date – there a several little shops, eateries, and breweries over here. It reflects an authentic Pittsburgh vibe.
