Pittsburgh Wedding Venues | The Gathering Place at Darlington Lake

Pittsburgh is filled with steel-city wonder. When you think of our beloved city, you probably imagine its myriad of bridges, towering skyscrapers, and historic railways. (Or maybe think of Penguins, Pirates, and Steelers if you’re a sports fanatic.) And while the architecture is incredible, some local couples prefer to think outside the industrial aesthetic for their wedding day. Less than an hour from downtown, you can find the quiet solitude you’re looking for on the banks of Darlington Lake. The Gathering Place is an expansive wedding venue on the lake. The venue is equal parts elegance and country charm, and the views are breathtaking. Add this one to your list of Pittsburgh wedding venues to check out!

Kenzie and Michael opted for a gorgeous winter wedding at the Gathering Place at Darlington Lake. Their couple’s portraits were captivating. Whether strolling across the lush lawn, watching the sunset over the lake, or pausing for a moment together under the willow trees, every moment was something straight from a romantic movie. There’s plenty of space to spread out and celebrate with guests. You make the memories, and I capture them so you can relive them in color. This venue provides endless photo opportunities without having to pull you away from the moment—every spot is beautiful!

The Gathering Place is one of the best venues for a country ambiance. The wooded backdrop, sparkling lake, and landscaped property are gorgeous! They make their exclusive experience affordable to couples, and it beautifully hosts small, intimate gatherings and large weddings alike. They even have a built-in Plan B for rainy days ready to go in their elegant log event center with vaulted ceilings and sliding glass walls. At night, the cabin has a warm, romantic glow, and torches light the path around the lake. Enjoy the firepit on chilly nights.

While The Gathering Place is technically not an all-inclusive venue, they have partnered with an exclusive preferred caterer, award-winning Medure’s Catering. Medure’s specializes in weddings and offers everything from farm-to-table cuisine to carving stations!

This venue is also unique in that it has a warm, welcoming feel. The owners still care for their couples like they did for their own children’s weddings. And now, their daughter Jodi also offers professional full-service wedding planning and day-of coordination through Events143. As a like-minded team, they do a phenomenal job, ensuring every detail is accounted for.
