As a luxury wedding photographer, I get to shoot at some gorgeous wedding venues around Pittsburgh, and the Southpointe Golf Club definitely did not disappoint. Emily and Jeff celebrated their wedding day on July 3, 2021, and their wedding day was absolutely beautiful. I especially loved how they included both of their cute dogs in the ceremony and released white doves at the end! It’s the little things that always make weddings extra special and meaningful.
Many couples want to honor family members who have passed. You can set up spots at the ceremony and reception that display photos of grandparents and other loved ones. It will be extra meaningful to look at the photos and feel like those relatives are there celebrating right along with you. You might also consider reserving a seat for them with a rose in their honor, or add charms with their photos on your bouquet.
Your pets mean the world to you. They are your fur babies after all! So why not include them in your wedding ceremony? Many couples love to have their dog act as the ring bearer, and the photos are extra adorable! Have someone escort the cute pup down the aisle. However, you may not want to let your pup actually hold on to the ring… That might get risky! If you want to give your pup a break after the ceremony, a friend (someone who is not in the wedding party or family portraits) can take them home in between photos and the reception for an easy transition.
For a bit of fun at the end of your ceremony (and to get even more photos), have your wedding party hold up score cards to rank the final kiss. When the couple kisses normally the first time, your wedding party will hold up low scores and encourage the couple to try again. Then, the newlyweds will really wow the crowd when the groom dips the bride as he kisses her. Perfect 10 scores from both sides of the aisle! This fun idea can be executed in many different ways depending on the couple’s creativity. Or, you could do it at the reception or for the sendoff if you prefer. It’s a great way to get authentic laughs and fun photos.
For a personal touch, print off personalized stickers with each guest’s name on them. Then you can place each sticker on your wedding favors. While you are not able to give a different gift to each person, this small touch will make each guest feel remembered and appreciated. It’s the little things that can really make someone feel special!
Every wedding needs a punny hashtag! For example, if your last name is Wright, you may choose to have your hashtag be #forthewrightreasons or #mrsalwayswright. Feel free to get creative and have fun with these! This way, all your photos will be easy to find on Instagram, and you won’t miss a moment of your big day. Emily and Jeff displayed a cute “it’s Hopkins time” neon light for their reception backdrop (especially fitting that they served Miller beer to celebrate).
I had such a wonderful time photographing Emily and Jeff’s wedding day. The venue and details were all spectacular, and I know the rest of their guests felt the same way. I encourage every couple to personalize their ceremony and reception to fit their tastes and style as a couple. These small touches will only enhance your wedding experience, but you’ll also end up with better photos and treasure these memories forever!
