Couple’s Boudoir Photography | Cozy Session at Studio 1933 Pittsburgh

Not all boudoir photography involves lacy lingerie (although I do love a pretty bridal boudoir shoot!) Sometimes a cozy couple’s boudoir session is just what you need to break out of your routine and reconnect in a creative and intimate way.

You don’t need a special occasion to book a couple’s session! This lovely couple booked their photoshoot with me just ‘cuz. They realized they have lots of photos together on their phones, but they wanted some professionally curated photos they will cherish and enjoy for years to come. The studio was the perfect place for their casual-chic style. Studio 1933 features a neutral, subtly-decorated backdrop with some texture built in—just what we needed for their classic session! Plus, it provided a cozy, private space for them to unwind and just be themselves (which translated so beautifully to their photos!)

Couple’s Boudoir Photography Session FAQ’s

Where will we take photos?

We have a couple options for your photoshoot: You can either choose an in-home lifestyle photography session (imagine snuggly fireplace shots, playful bedroom setups, and kitchen counter kisses). Or, we could head over to Studio 1933 in Pittsburgh. Studio 1933 is a blank-canvas, open-concept event space and photography studio. I especially love all the windows and light-colored curtains that let in just the right amount of natural sunlight. It does have changing areas, closets, a coffee machine, mini fridge, and more so you feel right at home! Feel free to reach out if you have more questions about the studio or want to learn more about in-home sessions.

What is your couple’s boudoir photography style?

I typically photograph classic and cozy lifestyle shoots similar to this one. I love lots of natural light (without blowing out the whites) and neutral, minimal décor in order to emphasize the connection and chemistry between you as a couple. The neutral colors also give your photos a timeless look. Trends come and go, and I want you to have photos that will stand the test of time.

You can add your own flair and personality with an outfit that suits you—button downs, oversized shirts, tanks, and casual mini dresses all photograph well. You could also go with some loungewear (the photogenic kind) or cute pajama set.

Do you do themed couple’s sessions?

For couple’s boudoir, it’s the location and the poses that create the sense of intimacy more than the clothing. Cozy lounge areas, throw blankets, extra pillows, and kitchen counters all set the stage for this oh-so-romantic yet classy look. That way, you’ll get quite a few photos you can show off and display, plus several intimate shots just for the two of you. I love the versatility of this timeless style—and even ten years from now, I think you will too!

If you’re looking for more of a date-themed photoshoot and want to add in props, coffee or tea mugs are always a cute addition. You could even go all out with a cozy “breakfast in bed” tray and accessories. For an evening in, try popcorn and movie vibes. (The make adorable save the dates or holiday cards!)

When is the best time to book a couple’s boudoir session?

Anytime! However, sessions for 2022 are filling up fast, so be sure to reserve your date as soon as possible. Whether you’re recently engaged, have an anniversary coming up, or just want updated couple’s portraits, I promise you’ll be so glad you booked a couple’s boudoir session. Oftentimes, couples tell me they booked it for the photos but end up surprised at how much they enjoy the experience! Your session will feel like a date. Staring into each other’s eyes for that dreamy shot and revisiting your childhood with a good ol’ pillow fight is such a sweet way to reignite your spark!
